Motivation

I grew up in a family where understanding and tolerance are taught. My parents enjoyed spending money on travel rather than expensive cars or electronic gadgets. So the family vacations where spend in Tunisia, Italy, Namibia and Botswana. This supplied me with a broad view on cultures and nurtured my interest in foreignness.
That’s the reason why I decided, after graduation from High School, to take part in a in a special program in Hong Kong, which not only gave me the opportunity to study wholesale and foreign trade, but also work for Jebsen & Co Ltd., a trading company with an excellent reputation, which gave me many insights into Asian management style and the Asian market.
While working in Hong Kong I fell in love with the city and its people. For this reason, after completing my education there I demonstrated my intensive interest in Asia and its economy through my choices in life.
In June 2006 I decided to take my education to a higher level by pursuing management studies in combination with Chinese language training in Konstanz, Germany. Besides gaining greater knowledge in the areas of economics and communication as well as international management competencies, I also developed further skills during my work for a professor in the field of intercultural communication and an internship in Shanghai at a fast growing Chinese company in 2007. These experiences provided me with a broad knowledge of Chinese work habits and I had to learn how to work under stress.
Included in my bachelor studies is one year in Asia: One semester at a Chinese university and one semester internship at a company.
I was studying with a scholarship at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, where I advanced my Chinese Language Skills. After that I was able to get an internship at DB International in Taiwan, which is supplying engineering consultancy services in the Far East region. As a completely integrated member of the team, I had to fulfill a variety of tasks: from administration to the preparation of tender documents.
In October 2009 I will return to Germany to finish my studies and write my bachelor thesis. The topic of the thesis will be “Self-Marketing online using a personal website”.
I identified this topic, during my stay in Taiwan. Since I will graduate spring 2010 I was trying to find out whether a graduate like me could find an interesting job in Taiwan or Asia. I got to know people, who suggested to market myself online, since my set of skills is rather unusual and my interests including Intercultural communication, marketing and trading multifaceted.
Now every day provides me with grater insight into Web 2.0. Sometimes I am overwhelmed, but I realized that its opportunities are immense.
In the future I am looking for new challenges, new countries, new experiences!
Anyone who can supply me with those, got interested, or thinks I might be of help in a way is very welcome to write me an email: info@christinarogge.com
